Hollywood Fire Rescue – Station No. 31

About This Project

In cooperation with the City of Hollywood, Stephen Boruff, AIA Architects + Planners, Inc. developed the program & design of this project.  This station, part of a series of projects aimed at both strengthening Hollywood’s infrastructure and facilitating the physical transformation of the city, establishes a strong street presence as well as enhancing the aesthetic identity of the city.  Taking aesthetic cues from the City of Hollywood design criteria manual,  other health and welfare safety projects, the architecture and palette are a contemporary derivative of classic Mediterranean influences, which responds to the large scale direction the City of Hollywood is striving for as opposed to a localized context.  The neighboring sites, which consist of Water Utilities and Park facilities, do not establish a clear context; enabling the new fire station to break from its surroundings and be part of the new aesthetic for Hollywood Boulevard.
